Further evidence shows that a baby’s development in the womb can influence its health in later life.


A study among 476 middle class infants in the Netherlands has revealed that babies born either under or overweight had high blood pressure.


Those with a low birth weight had greater gains in weight and blood pressure during the first four years, while those with a high birthweight tended to have high blood pressure at birth which was sustained over the four years.
