Cow’s milk can lead to hardening of the arteries

Re milk causing heart disease (WDDTY vol 15 no 2), this was actually mentioned on Radio 4’s early morning news a few months ago, though they did not repeat the item during the day. They probably had a phone call from the MMB [Milk Marketing Board].

Milk is rich in calcium. Unfortunately, the calcium is not readily absorbed, and what is not absorbed is dumped in the joints and arteries. Presumably, cheap calcium-carbonate supplements may also cause this problem.

Calcium is best got from sources that are natural foods for humans, not cow’s milk, which is intended for young cows. – John Bright, Carterton, Oxon
