Kathi Keville has studied herbs since 1969. Her attraction to fragrant plants led to an involvement in aromatherapy. Her other books include Herbs for Health and Healing; The Illustrated Encyclopedia of Herbs; and Herbs: American Country Living. Keville is editor of the American Herb Association Quarterly, an honorary life member of the American Aromatherapy Association, a member of the National Institute of Holistic Aromatherapy, and a founding professional member of the American Herbalist Guild. She travels throughout North America teaching seminars.
Joseph E. Pizzorno, Jr., N.D., appointed by President Clinton in December 2000 to the White House Commission on Complementary and Alternative Medicine Policy and by President Bush¹s administration to the Medicare Coverage Advisory Committee in November 2002, is one of the world¹s leading authorities on science-based natural medicine. A naturopathic physician, educator, researcher and expert spokesperson, Dr. Pizzorno is founding president of Bastyr University. Under his leadership, Bastyr became the first fully accredited, multidisciplinary university of natural medicine and the first NIH-funded center for alternative medicine research. From 1996 to 2002, he served on the Seattle/King County Board of Health and, in 1996, was a founding board member of the American Herbal Pharmacopoeia. He has been a licensed naturopathic physician in Washington State since 1975. In June 2000, Dr. Pizzorno retired after 22 years from the presidency of Bastyr University. He continues as President Emeritus. Dr. Pizzorno has been the recipient of numerous awards and honors. In 2006 at the 50th anniversary of the founding of National College of Naturopathic Medicine, he was recognized as its most illustrious graduate. In 2004, Natural Foods Merchandiser recognized him as one of the 25 leaders in therapeutic nutrition, and he was honored by the Institute of Functional Medicine with the Linus Pauling award for his "Decades of work establishing the scientific and educational foundation of natural medicine." In 2003, the American Holistic Medical Association recognized him as a "Pioneer in Holistic Medicine." In 2002, he was awarded "Naturopathic Physician of the Year" by the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians and received the "Founder¹s Award for Pioneering Complementary and Alternative Medicine" by the National Foundation for Alternative Medicine. In 2001, Natural Health Magazine recognized him as one of the leading health educators in the past 30 years. In 2000, Alternative Healthcare Management recognized him as one of the four most influential leaders in alternative health care and the Cancer Treatment Centers of America awarded him as "Humanitarian of The Year." He travels worldwide, consulting, lecturing and promoting science-based natural medicine and collaborative healthcare. Tom Ferguson, M.D. (1943-2006), was a pioneering physician, author, and researcher. Dr. Ferguson studied and wrote about the empowered medical consumer since 1975 and about online health resources for consumers since 1987. After attending Reed College, earning a Master's Degree in creative writing from San Francisco State University, and a medical degree from Yale University School of Medicine, he launched a prolific career in consumer focused medical writing as founder of Medical Self Care magazine. Dr. Ferguson passed away in 2006.
Thomas A. Kruzel N.D. is a Naturopathic Physician in private practice in Portland, Oregon with an emphasis on family practice, geriatric medicine and diseases of the urogenital tract. He is an Associate Professor of Medicine at National College of Naturopathic Medicine where he teaches Clinical Urology, Geriatric Medicine and Clinical Pathology. He is also the author of The Homeopathic Emergency Guide - A Quick Reference Handbook to Effective Homeopathic Care published by North Atlantic Books.
