Q:Your article on the prostate cancer vasectomy link (WDDTY, vol 4, no 2) was of particular interest to me as a recovered testicular cancer patient.
In general does a reversal of the vasectomy reduce the risk of prostate cancer developing? B H, Sheffield…..
A:Our panel member and cancer specialist Dr Patrick Kingsley advises that if your only reason for considering a vasectomy reversal is to reduce your likelihood of cancer, and you’re not currently facing any particular health problems, the risks of surgery probably outweigh the potential benefits. Instead, he recommends that you take other positive steps to reduce your cancer risk, eating a healthy diet, learning to relax, giving up smoking, reducing alcohol intake, and taking antioxidizing nutritional supplements.
