Serious reactions to Prozac (fluoxetine) have been reported by a group of Belgian doctors who took part in an informal questionnaire. Symptoms among patients ranged from a desire to die, great nervousness, aggressive behaviour, suicidal thoughts lead
These findings, prepared by Robert Bourguignon and another medical colleague, follow the types of reactions reported in the American press.
His findings were refuted by Prozac’s manufacturer, Eli Lilly. But he concludes: “Eli Lilly’s denial of the existence of these side effects and refusal to discuss them gives cause for concern” (The Lancet, 1997; 349: 214).
