Ever thought your doctor could improve on his inter-personal skills, that sometimes he doesn’t listen, or perhaps talks over you? Well, don’t blame him – it was the way he was taught.
A study has discovered that nearly 40 per cent of junior doctors report being bullied by superiors while at training hospitals. The bullying was persistent, and has ‘eroded professional confidence or self esteem’.
Despite this alarming picture, the researchers were pleased that the extent of bullying had fallen compared with earlier studies. So if you think you have a bad time with your doctor, it’s nothing compared to that which your parents put up with, it seems.
