Faulty surgery by inept and untrained doctors is leaving many fracture victims unnecessarily disabled, according to a UK report.
According to the British Orthopaedic Association, which surveyed nearly all the 283 British hospitals providing orthopaedic surgery, 100,000 of the million people who break bones every year are left with a severe disability that could be prevented.
Although there are 1000 orthopaedic surgeons in Britain, the number specializing in fractures from accidents is very small. There are also very few hospitals around the country specializing in orthopaedic trauma.
