With reference to Harald Gaier’s article on acupuncture and pain relief (vol 4 no 4), to use acupuncture as an analgesic, other than in surgical procedures, is generally incorrect usage unless accompanied by an attempt to cure the illness from which the pain is derived.


Western medical acupuncturists and practitioners from physios to osteopaths using acupuncture after only a few days training are employing pain relief methods with no idea of the consequences as they have no proper grounding in traditional Chinese Medicine.


It is easy to remove migraine with acupuncture, but just as easy to change migraine to depression, stroke or heart failure. Dr John P Heptonstall, Leeds……
