UPDATES:EATING FISH WILL REDUCE RISK OF HEART FAILURE

Eating fish reduces the risk of sudden death in men, latest studies confirm.

During a US study of more than 20,000 men aged 40 to 84 years with 133 sudden deaths from heart failure, the risk was lowest for men who ate fish at least once a week. The report from doctors at hospitals in the US says that there’s no evidence that consuming fish can reduce overall heart disease (JAMA, 1998; 279: 234-8).

Merely adding fish to a diet doesn’t necessarily protect your heart. Fish should be one factor in a low fat, low cholesterol, high fruit/vegetable diet, according to another study (BMJ, 1998; 316: 160).
