Can we trace the lack of minerals to obesity?

About a year ago, you reported a study showing a severe loss of minerals and nutrients in our vegetables over the past 40 years. You may not think there might be a connection with the recent concern about obesity, but I wonder if the lack of trace minerals would lead to a craving for more and more food to make up for it.
