While the study did not find any increased risk of heart disease, the researchers warn that it is still too early to recommend prescribing HRT to prevent heart disease, and that larger trials are needed to confirm the effectiveness and safety of HRT in this area (Ann Intern Med, 2000; 133: 933-41, 999-1001).
